About Clear Thinking Essentials

Clear Thinking Essentials is an educational curriculum designed to teach critical thinking skills through the exploration of 36 logical fallacies over 36 weeks.

Our Mission

To empower young minds with the tools to identify faulty reasoning, think critically, and engage with ideas confidently and clearly.

Who Is This For?

This curriculum is specifically designed for students ages 10-14. Each lesson uses age-appropriate language and relatable examples that resonate with middle school students.

What You'll Learn

  • Identify 36 common logical fallacies
  • Understand why faulty reasoning fails
  • Recognize these fallacies in everyday conversations
  • Build stronger arguments and critical thinking skills
  • Develop confidence in evaluating ideas and claims

How It Works

The curriculum is structured as a 36-week program, with one lesson per week. Each lesson follows a consistent format:

  1. Spot the Faulty Logic: An opening scenario to discover the fallacy
  2. Definition: A clear, simple explanation of the fallacy
  3. How/Why It's Used: Understanding the context and motivation
  4. Why It's Faulty: The logical breakdown
  5. Examples: Multiple concrete examples
  6. Your Turn: Interactive practice and reflection

Every 5 lessons, there's a checkpoint to review and reinforce what you've learned.

Our Approach

We believe in learning through discovery. Each lesson starts with a relatable scenario that encourages discussion before revealing the concept. This approach:

  • Engages students from the start
  • Encourages critical thinking before explanation
  • Makes abstract concepts concrete and memorable
  • Builds confidence through guided exploration
